Frequently asked questions.
Are Butterbings vegan?
No. We use butter and eggs in all of our recipes. Some (not many) of our flavours contain gelatine. For a short time, we were making a very delicious vegan range. We dedicated about 12 months to perfect the recipe but were just never able to develop a recipe that produced consistent results. We tried very hard, but it just wasn’t meant to be!
Are your products gluten-free?
Yes. Our product has been tested, and we’re happy to say that there are no traces of gluten in our cookies.
Are any of your products nut free?
Trace amount of nuts may be present in all flavours. The brownie cookie recipe does not use nuts, but some of our buttercream recipes do. Nuts are present in our kitchen, particularly peanuts and hazelnuts.
Do you use free range eggs?
Does your product contain raw egg?
No. Eggs are only used in the brownie cookie, which is baked. We don’t use raw eggs in our buttercreams.
Where can I buy Butterbings?
Can I order through one of your cafe stockists?
Maybe? We honestly haven’t explored this idea much. It doesn’t hurt to ask.
Can I order a Butterboom? (1.5kg cake-style brownie cookie sandwiches).
No. We stopped offering this product in May 2019
Can I order cookies directly?
Where is the Butterbing factory? Can I come visit?
We’re located in Dandenong, Victoria, however our kitchen is closed to the public.
How should I store Butterbings?
If you purchased them from a cafe, you should keep them airtight, refrigerated and consume within a few days.
